1h30 glacier walk on the Girose galcier in la Grave

Ascend with the cable car and walk on the Girose glacier accompanied by a Mountain Guide. In the heart of the Ecrins national park we discover what alpinism is about. Even if they have lost a bit of weight, the Girose glacier and the Mont de Lans glacier, situated in the “Pays de la Meije'' in the heart of the Hautes Alpes and the Ecrins national park, together form the biggest glacier cap in France (6 km east to west). In contrast to the neighbouring glaciers of La Meije, Enfetchores and the Rateau, that are only accessible to alpinists and extreme skiers, the Girose glacier is less fierce. It spreads out in wide blue, white and grey slopes, its gentle forms rolling out from the cable car station of Ruillans, the arrival point of the cable car from La Grave. The crevasses and the seracs of the glacier are accessible to almost everyone accompanied and roped up together with a Mountain Guide from the Bureau des Guides de La Grave. There is a view you never get tired of, from the Vercors to the Mont Blanc and from the Vanoise to the Mont Thabor. We can see many beautiful summits in the Ecrins national park and the Oisans region and right by our side the majestic La Meije rises up. Every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (with reservation).
