Climb and descend the wild mountains of Oisans and the Hautes Alpes on skis, with the Bureau des Guides de la Grave. A discipline that has been in full development for fifteen years, ski touring in the high valleys is for many the most beautiful way to explore the snow-covered virgin mountains. It is the joy of immersing yourself in the wild mountains, climbing and descending passes and summits on skis away from the ski areas. It is to be the actor of your ski, to choose your track on the ascent as on the descent in communion with nature. With his companions, the cross-country skier shares the observation and analysis of the terrain, the choice of route, the effort and the pleasure of reaching a summit by himself. After drawing on your physical resources, the feeling of having deserved your descent is strong and often becomes addictive. The country of La Meije is a privileged place for ski touring and abounds in opportunities (heights of Chazelet or Terrasses, Villar d'Arêne, Col du Lautaret, Casset, Fontenil valley, etc.)
You are able to descend a red piste in a ski area and you sometimes ski on the non-groomed edges of the piste. While climbing, you are able to walk between 3 to 4 hours with around 800m of gain.
You are in good physical shape and can easily climb between 3 to 5 hours with a backpack between 6-8kg.
